Beaver Creek Birds of Prey Downhill Today

Beaver Creek hosts one of the most challenging World Cup downhill races for the men this morning, 12/3/10.  These are always well attended and exciting events.  I work security at the finish area for the Vail Valley Foundation, the sponsoring entity.  The American men have not skied well year-to-date but that could change today.  Bode Miller had the 4th fastest time in yesterday’s training run and Andrew Weibrecht (see photo below) seems poised for a high finish after medaling in the Olympics last season.  My money is on Bode to finish well.

American Andrew Weibrecht has had a roller-coaster of a year. In February, he won bronze in the super-G at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Less than three weeks later, he was done for the year with shoulder and knee injuries in Norway. The Lake Placid, N.Y., native is healthy again for today's downhill at Birds of Prey.
